Fullarton Medical Practice
Thinking about training with us?
We are an established training practice located in Ayr town centre with a list size of approximately 8000 patients. We provide care to both urban and semi-rural areas. Alan White and Stephen Dunne are responsible for training in the practice with Lindsey Walker currently completing the process to become an accredited trainer. All GPs in the practice are familiar with the GP training programme and we are all responsible for supporting trainees in practice, providing clinical supervision and facilitating educational activities twice per week.
The practice has gained hugely from being a training practice and we all enjoy the stimulation and rewarding experience from providing GP training. Occasionally GP trainees need to video consultations to provide an opportunity for analysis and development of consultation techniques, we are extremely grateful to our understanding patients who provide consent for these sessions.
Linsey Walker was our GP Retainer and Stephen Dunne was a GP Registrar, Gemma Freestone who will be joining the practice in August 2018 is also a former Registrar.
Here is what our current ST3 Naomi Brown thinks about her experience (March 2018)
I am currently in my ST3 year of GP training at the Fullarton Practice and can highly recommend the practice to trainees considering a post in Ayrshire. The team are friendly, approachable and supportive. There is an open culture where all members of the team and their contributions are valued. Protected Learning Time and tutorials have been prioritised and individualised according to my learning needs. Patients come from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds and age groups, which provides a wide exposure to various health problems. The practice has an innovative approach, helping familiarise trainees with new developments in primary care. I continue to enjoy my placement here and have benefitted from a very positive training experience.
